Chinti & Parker x Caroline Popham

This month we teamed up with British artist Caroline Popham to create an exclusive capsule collection available only at

Caroline is a good friend of Chinti & Parker, and since her graduation at the University of Arts (Chelsea) in 2016 where she has exhibited regularly, she has produced several commissions, including a site-specific installation for Bert & May.

Her interest in structured minimalism and love of color, along with her skills in painting and collage, have now been transferred to cashmere sweaters and pure cotton t-shirts.

We sat down with Caroline to discover how art has met fashion.
Hi Caroline, can you tell us how this collaboration started?

Chinti & Parker have supported my work for a long time and it felt like a natural progression to see if we could work together. The graphic simplicity of my paintings seemed liked it would translate well onto clothing. I was interested in the meeting point of art and design and seeing where this collaboration would sit. I also loved the idea of the clothing being a walking gallery for my work.

What was your inspiration behind the collaboration?

From some initial paintings a favorite was chosen to use on the range. My works are autobiographical and depict stories within stories representing my way of seeing. I layer color and form to create my own visual language. At the time of painting for the Chinti & Parker collection I was thinking about dialogue and conversations and these pieces are abstract depictions of this. These pieces feel very true to my working style.

Why did you choose this particular colour palette?

I work a lot with tones of colors and I am drawn to color gradients. Red to pink is a particular favorite. I wanted to add a painterly aesthetic as well, to bring a new dimension in.How would you style your Chinti & Parker x Caroline Popham sweater?

With jeans or track pants. Definitely not when I’m painting.

What is your most treasured item of clothing?

I have an Isabel Marant sweater that makes me look like I’m in the Swiss Olympic ski team of 1978.
